TDP’s Mahanadu 2025 in Kadapa: AI video of NTR becomes highlight

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has launched its conclave, Mahanadu 2025, in Kadapa — marking a significant moment as the event is being held for the first time in the YSRCP stronghold. The three-day conclave (May 27–29) has drawn over 23,000 delegates to a sprawling 125-acre venue near Pabbapuram village, coinciding with the 102nd birth anniversary of party founder Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR).

A standout moment was the release of an AI-generated video recreating NTR’s voice and likeness, evoking an emotional response from attendees. While many hailed it as a powerful tribute, critics raised concerns over the ethics of such digital recreations.

TDP national general secretary and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh took center stage with the unveiling of a six-pillar vision under the “My Telugu Family” campaign. The pillars focus on Telugu identity, youth empowerment (Yuva Galam), women’s rights (Stree Shakti), social justice, farmer welfare, and decentralized development. His speech highlighted TDP’s renewed focus on inclusivity and long-term relevance, sparking speculation about his formal elevation as the party’s working president.

Strategic move

Hosting Mahanadu in Kadapa is seen as a strategic move, especially after TDP’s 2024 electoral win in 7 out of 10 constituencies in the district. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who filed his nomination for TDP national president, is expected to unveil a detailed Rayalaseema Development Plan to counter YSRCP’s narrative. Discussions include 14 resolutions for Andhra Pradesh, five for Telangana, and four joint resolutions.

TDP is also pushing internal reforms — with Lokesh proposing structured support systems for cadres, membership drives, and grassroots committee strengthening. However, the suicide attempt of a party worker in Anantapur’s mini Mahanadu underscored internal challenges that still persist.

On the international front, the NRI TDP Germany chapter held a mini Mahanadu in Frankfurt, reaffirming the party’s global outreach. Cultural programs, exhibitions, and social initiatives like blood donation camps are part of the Kadapa event.

Lokesh emerges as major force

Despite accommodation constraints, the party has organized 19 committees to manage logistics. Senior leaders like Nimmala Rama Naidu and S. Savitha are overseeing the arrangements, with over 25,000 attendees expected for the grand rally on May 29.

With Lokesh emerging as a prominent force and Naidu steering governance, Mahanadu 2025 is being seen as a crucial step in shaping TDP’s future, both structurally and ideologically.
