While “Kingdom” opened to a roaring start at the box office, earning Rs 18 crore nett on Day 1, the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer saw a noticeable dip in collections on its second day.
But what’s making just as much buzz as the numbers is Rashmika Mandanna’s secret visit to a single-screen theater to catch the film.
The Telugu spy thriller, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, marked the biggest opener in Vijay Deverakonda’s career. However, the Day 2 numbers dropped to Rs 7.5 crore nett, bringing the total two-day collection to an estimated Rs 25.5 crore nett, as per trade reports from Sacnilk. The decline is being attributed to the film’s mixed reviews from critics and audiences.
Amidst this, Rashmika Mandanna, rumored to be in a relationship with Vijay, reportedly watched “Kingdom” in disguise at a single-screen theater to experience the crowd’s raw reactions.
She originally wanted to visit Sriramulu Theater in Hyderabad, but was advised against it by producer Naga Vamsi to avoid chaos.
Eventually, the team gave her a low-profile makeover — scarves and sunglasses included — and arranged tight security for a screening at Bhramarambha 70MM in Nizampet. According to Naga Vamsi, she loved the film and was thrilled to see the audience response firsthand.
Rashmika had also posted “Manam Kottinam” (“We delivered the success”) on social media shortly after the film’s release, further fueling speculation about her bond with Vijay.
Whether or not the romance rumors are true, one thing is clear.
Rashmika is standing firmly by Vijay’s side, especially as he looks to bounce back from a streak of underwhelming releases.
After a strong opening, Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda, witnessed a significant dip in box office collections on its second day.
In the USA, the film collected about $1.2 million so far. It is on track to post $1.5 to 1.6 million in its first weekend. Despite the drop, “Kingdom” had a solid impact on its opening day, with turnout exceeding expectations in several Telugu regions. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, “Kingdom” faced multiple delays before finally hitting screens on July 31.
