Allu Arjun begins three-month Mumbai Shoot for AA22xA6

Allu Arjun has kicked off a major three-month shooting schedule in Mumbai for his highly anticipated sci-fi action thriller, tentatively titled AA22xA6, directed by blockbuster filmmaker Atlee. This marks the longest outdoor shoot of the actor’s career outside Hyderabad, underscoring the film’s massive scale and ambition.

The Pushpa star commenced filming on June 12 following a traditional muhurat ceremony. The Mumbai leg focuses on high-octane action sequences and VFX-heavy scenes, shot on a specially constructed blue-mat set featuring cutting-edge cameras and state-of-the-art visual effects technology.

800 Cr budget

Backed by Sun Pictures, AA22xA6 is being made on a colossal Rs 800+ crore budget, placing it among the most expensive Indian films to date. The project features Allu Arjun in multiple roles, promising a complex, layered performance. Deepika Padukone plays the female lead, while Mrunal Thakur has already begun filming her part alongside the star.

Rumors also hint at Janhvi Kapoor and Bhagyashri Borse joining the ensemble cast, though official confirmations are awaited.

Parallel universe

Set in a parallel universe, the film aims to redefine Indian cinema with its advanced VFX, motion-captured animation, and immersive world-building. Following the Mumbai schedule, Allu Arjun will head to the United States for additional VFX-intensive sequences. Meanwhile, he is also expected to take a brief break in July to attend the American Telugu Sambaralu event as the chief guest, before resuming the shoot.

Atlee, known for delivering crowd-pleasers like Jawan and Bigil, is steering AA22xA6 as a visual extravaganza blending high-concept sci-fi with dramatic storytelling. The film is slated for a late 2026 theatrical release in multiple languages and is already being touted as a landmark project in Indian cinema.
