Jagan Mohan Reddy vows political retaliation: “TDP ki Cinema Choopiddam”

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has issued a fiery warning to the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP), vowing political retaliation when his party returns to power. Addressing a gathering in Vijayawada on May 19, Jagan accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s government of orchestrating a political vendetta against YSRCP leaders.

Jagan alleged that the TDP-led NDA government is misusing law enforcement agencies to target opposition leaders. “Fake cases, wrongful arrests, and harassment of our cadre—Naidu thinks he can silence us. But we are keeping count,” he said, asserting that YSRCP will “show them a cinema” in due time.

His comments follow a series of legal actions against former YSRCP leaders, including the recent arrest of ex-minister P. Ravindranath Reddy in a liquor scam case and ongoing ED probes into associates of the former CM.

TDP hits back

Responding to Jagan’s remarks, TDP spokesperson Pattabhi Ram dismissed them as “desperate rhetoric from a leader who has lost public trust.” He argued that the cases against YSRCP figures are backed by substantial evidence, including a Rs 3,000 crore asset attachment by the Enforcement Directorate linked to the party’s previous term.

Political analysts view Jagan’s aggressive tone as a strategy to reenergize his demoralized base after YSRCP’s dramatic fall in the 2024 elections—winning just 11 out of 175 Assembly seats.
