Amaravati ReSTART: 97 Projects with 58,000 Crore launched

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked a historic milestone on May 2nd by relaunching the construction of Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh’s greenfield capital. The fourndation stone was first launched in 2015. But during Chandrababu Naidu’s first term (2014-19), only temporary structres were built and nothing much happened. After YS Jagan gained the power, the Amaravati capital city works abandoned.

94 projects, 58000 Cr

Hence, it was released launched. The grand event, held in Velagapudi, saw the launch and foundation-laying of 94 development projects worth Rs 57,962 crore, aimed at transforming Amaravati into a futuristic urban hub.

Addressing a massive gathering, PM Modi, alongside Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, hailed Amaravati as a “symbol of aspirations” and a cornerstone of a “Swarna Andhra” (Golden Andhra).

“Amaravati will empower the vision of a prosperous Andhra Pradesh and strengthen the pathway to a developed India,” he said.

Assembly, High Court, Secretariat…

The relaunch includes 74 infrastructure projects worth Rs 49,000 crore, such as the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, and residential quarters for judicial officers and 5,200 families. Additionally, Modi initiated nine central projects worth Rs 5,028 crore, including a Rs 1,459 crore DRDO missile testing center at Nagayalanka, national highway expansions, and railway upgrades. A 320 km transport network, underground utilities, and advanced flood management systems were also part of the ambitious plan.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu thanked PM Modi for his unwavering support, especially amid the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan praised the farmers who contributed 33,000 acres of land, criticizing the previous regime for undermining their sacrifices. “Amaravati will become a world-class capital, ensuring our youth no longer need to leave for jobs in Hyderabad or Bangalore,” he said.

The relaunch, termed “Amaravati ReSTART,” featured a 250-acre venue with a tech exhibition, 3D models of the government complex, and elaborate arrangements for attendees, including food, water, and transport for five lakh expected participants. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has approved tenders worth Rs 42,360 crore, with plans for nine themed sub-cities, drawing inspiration from global cities like Singapore and Tokyo.
