Producer admits Daaku Maharaaj’s loss

Producer Naga Vamsi has finally admitted that the so-called blockbuster “Daaku Maharaaj” made losses in many areas. He said the film turned out to be an underwhelming performer at the box office.

“Daaku Maharaaj,” starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, was released on January 12, 2025. At the time of the release, the makers claimed that the film grossed over Rs 160 Cr globally.

Losses in Rayalaseema and Telangana

In reality, the film made giant losses in the Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh. Many districts, like Krishna, have also suffered losses. The Telangana region, termed as Nizam in business circles, also saw heavy losses.

“We expected more revenue. But Sankranthiki Vasthunam spoiled our prospects. But we are pleased that Venkatesh and producer Dil Raju gained success. Daaku Maharaaj was not a flop, but it didn’t perform to our expectations,” Nagavamsi stated.

Prior to its theatrical release, Netflix acquired the digital streaming rights for “Daaku Maharaaj.” The movie became available on the platform starting February 21, 2025. It secured the top spot on Netflix India’s trending list.

“Daaku Maharaaj” was directed by Bobby, and it starred Shraddha Srinath, Urvashi Rautela, and Pragya Jaiswal as the female lead actors. Bollywood star Bobby Deol played the villain.
