The long-awaited “Ustaad Bhagat Singh,” starring Pawan Kalyan and directed by Harish Shankar, is officially back on track. Mythri Movie Makers announced today that filming will resume shortly, marking a major development in the project after multiple delays.

Official announcement about Ustaad Bhagat Singh

The announcement coincided with the festival of Hanuman Jayanthi and was accompanied by a new promotional still featuring Pawan Kalyan in his signature intense cop avatar, reigniting excitement among cinema circles.

The update comes after months of speculation regarding the film’s progress, which had stalled due to the actor’s political responsibilities as Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and disruptions caused by regional floods.

“Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is an action-comedy-drama and an official Telugu adaptation of the Tamil blockbuster Theri (2016), originally starring Vijay.

In the film, Pawan Kalyan plays a formidable IPS officer caught in a high-stakes conflict involving his family and justice. The ensemble cast includes Sreeleela as the female lead, along with Ashutosh Rana, Gautami, and others.

The film reunites Pawan Kalyan with director Harish Shankar after their 2012 blockbuster “Gabbar Singh,” a collaboration that continues to be celebrated for its mass appeal and box office success.

The production also brings together some of the industry’s leading talents, including music composer Devi Sri Prasad, cinematographer Ayananka Bose, and action choreographers Ram-Laxman, ensuring a technically polished and high-octane cinematic experience.

Script changes

Production setbacks have led to script adjustments to better reflect Pawan Kalyan’s current public image as a political leader and proponent of Sanatana Dharma.

With filming now scheduled to resume in June, the makers are reportedly aiming to wrap the shoot by December 2025 or January 2026.

Mythri Movie Makers has also hinted at a special promotional campaign around Pawan Kalyan’s birthday in September.

The film’s return to active production signals a renewed phase in Pawan Kalyan’s film career, as he balances his political commitments with a strong lineup of cinematic projects, including “OG” and “Hari Hara Veera Mallu.”

With “Ustaad Bhagat Singh,” expectations are high for another crowd-pleasing spectacle that combines star power with substance.
