After the success of “Aravinda Sametha,” NTR Jr. and Trivikram Srinivas are set to reunite for a colossal cinematic venture — a mythological action epic inspired by Lord Kartikeya, the Hindu god of war.

‘God of War’ tagline, not the title

While the tagline “God of War” has sparked intense buzz among fans and is already trending as a potential title, the makers have clarified that it is not the final title. They are reportedly considering a more powerful and culturally resonant name that aligns with the film’s mythological roots and global appeal.

Rs 500 crore budget

This project marks Trivikram’s first foray into large-scale VFX-heavy storytelling, with a projected budget of over Rs 500 crore, making it the costliest film in his career so far. Until now, the director’s highest-budget films have hovered around the Rs 200 crore mark. Sources suggest the budget may go even higher depending on production demands.

The film is expected to present NTR in a never-before-seen divine and intense avatar, portraying the valor and aura of Lord Kartikeya. With grand war sequences, mythological themes, and heavy VFX, the film aims to push the envelope for Indian cinema on a global stage.

Filming to begin in 2027

Fans will need to wait a while before the film materializes. The project is expected to begin shooting in early 2027, with pre-production kicking off in late 2026.

Before this, Trivikram will complete his film with Venkatesh, which is set to release in early 2026. Only after wrapping that project will he fully dive into this mythological epic.

Meanwhile, NTR will be busy with his current commitments, including “Dragon” directed by Prashanth Neel and another project with Nelson Dilipkumar. His packed schedule is also a key reason behind the 2027 timeline.

Originally planned for Allu Arjun

Interestingly, this ambitious film was initially planned with Allu Arjun in the lead. However, Allu Arjun opted to work with director Atlee, whose project will keep him engaged for the next couple of years. Due to the long delay and shifting priorities, Trivikram is said to have moved on and offered the project to NTR, reportedly feeling miffed over wasted time.

Trivikram’s star collaborations

Trivikram has previously worked with Pawan Kalyan and Mahesh Babu on two films each. His collaboration with Allu Arjun spans three blockbusters. With this new film, he joins hands with NTR for the second time, and it’s shaping up to be his most ambitious directorial venture yet.

All eyes are now on this mega project, which promises to blend mythology, visual spectacle, and star power on an unprecedented scale.
