Mishap on the set of ‘The India House’: Nikhil Siddhartha is safe

Actor Nikhil Siddhartha is currently filming “The India House,” an ambitious period spy thriller set during British rule. The film, known for its grand scale and historical backdrop, recently encountered a serious mishap during the shooting of a complex water sequence.

Water tank burst

The incident occurred on a blue-mat indoor set in Hyderabad, where the team was recreating a sea scene using large water tankers.

A technical failure caused the tankers to burst unexpectedly, resulting in a flood-like situation that severely damaged the set and destroyed expensive filming equipment. A video from the location surfaced online, showing the chaos caused by the gushing water inside the enclosed shooting arena.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported. Nikhil took to social media shortly after the incident to confirm that everyone on set was safe, crediting the alertness of the crew and the safety measures in place.

We are safe: Nikhil

“We are all safe. Sometimes in our quest to give the best cinematic experience, we take risks. Today we survived a huge mishap thanks to the alert crew and precautions taken. We lost expensive equipment, but by God’s grace, there was no human damage,” Nikhil wrote, sharing his gratitude and relief.

The accident highlights the growing trend in Telugu cinema of pushing technical and visual boundaries, even when it involves logistical and safety challenges.

Directed and written by Ram Vamsi Krishna, “The India House” is a big-budget historical thriller that explores untold stories from India’s freedom struggle. It is being presented by actor Ram Charan and jointly produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and V Mega Pictures.

Set in the pre-independence era, the film features Nikhil in a bold and unique role, unlike any he has played before. The cast also includes acclaimed veteran actor Anupam Kher in a pivotal part, adding further weight to the project. Saiee Manjrekar is the female lead.

Despite the setback, the production is expected to resume soon, with safety protocols likely to be further tightened.
