Did Kayadu Lohar charge Rs 35 Lakh for one night party?

Rising Tamil cinema actress Kayadu Lohar, widely acclaimed for her breakthrough role in the blockbuster “Dragon,” has been drawn into controversy following allegations linking her to the Rs 1,000-crore TASMAC liquor scam under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Night parties

According to sources familiar with the probe, the ED reportedly uncovered evidence during recent raids suggesting that Lohar was paid Rs 35 lakh to attend high-profile private parties hosted by individuals allegedly involved in the scam.

While these claims have generated widespread speculation, no official confirmation has been issued by the ED, and Lohar’s representatives have not responded publicly.

The investigation, centered on large-scale financial irregularities within the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC), includes allegations of tender manipulation, unaccounted cash flows, and illicit transactions involving liquor distilleries and government officials. The ED conducted raids on May 16, 2025, targeting key players across the state. It was during these operations that Lohar’s name reportedly surfaced in connection with figures implicated in the scam.

The revelations have sparked concern across Tamil Nadu’s film and political circles, raising uncomfortable questions about the overlap between the entertainment industry and broader corruption networks.

Despite the attention surrounding the case, it remains unclear whether Lohar’s alleged involvement constitutes a criminal offense or a reputational casualty amid a high-profile investigation.

Kayadu Lohar: A meteoric rise

Kayadu Lohar, 25, hails from Tezpur, Assam, and currently resides in Pune. Her journey into the entertainment industry began through beauty pageants.

She made her acting debut in the Kannada film Mugilpete the same year, followed by roles in Malayalam (Pathonpatham Noottandu, Oru Jaathi Jaathakam), Telugu (Alluri), and Marathi (I Prem U) films, earning praise for her linguistic versatility and on-screen presence.

Her career-defining role came with the 2025 Tamil film Dragon, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, where she starred as Pallavi Parasuram opposite Pradeep Ranganathan.

The film’s commercial and critical success turned Lohar into one of the most sought-after young actresses in South Indian cinema. In a reflective Instagram post, she credited Dragon as “the film that changed my life,” expressing gratitude to director Marimuthu and co-star Ranganathan for their support during filming.
