After Manchu Vishnu expressed outrage over the use of the word “Manchu” in a dialogue from the trailer of #Single, producer Bunny Vasu appears to be fuming — albeit silently. Taking to X.com, Vasu made a cryptic post suggesting he wants to respond strongly to a certain issue but is refraining for now to avoid unnecessary conflict.
The post indirectly confirmed reports that Vishnu is upset with the team behind #Single, which stars Sree Vishnu and is co-produced by Bunny Vasu.
According to insiders, Bunny Vasu has valid counterarguments and does not agree with Vishnu’s demand to remove the controversial dialogue. However, industry veteran Allu Aravind reportedly advised the team to make the necessary changes to sidestep controversy.
What’s the controversy?
The controversy erupted following Tuesday’s release of #Single’s trailer, which included satirical jabs at various Tollywood figures, including Balakrishna, Kannappa, and Sivayya.
While Sree Vishnu’s shout of “Sivayya!” was brushed off, a line containing the phrase “Jeevitam Manchu Kurisipovadam” (loosely translating to “life f***up) sparked backlash. The use of “Manchu” in a derogatory context was perceived as a jab at the Manchu family, particularly by Vishnu.
Reportedly, Manchu Vishnu was livid, questioning the industry’s ethics.
Vishnu is also said to have contacted key members of the Telugu Film Producers Council, demanding action.
Amid the escalating tensions, actor Sree Vishnu attempted damage control by recording an apology video. But Bunny Vas is not happy with Manchu Vishnu’s overaction.
