Bollywood icon Aamir Khan, affectionately known as “Mr. Perfectionist,” recently reflected on turning 60, sharing insights into his retirement plans, creative reinvention, and a new chapter in his personal life. Speaking candidly in media interactions and a feature with The Hollywood Reporter India, Khan opened up about life, legacy, and love.

Celebrating his 60th birthday on March 14, Khan revealed that he envisions stepping away from acting by the time he turns 70. “I’ve never taken up six films at once in my life. Now, I want to make these next 10 years the most meaningful phase of my working life,” he shared.

He nearly walked away from cinema during the pandemic, admitting to feeling guilt over prioritizing his career over family. It was his children, Ira and Junaid, along with ex-wife Kiran Rao, who encouraged him to stay the course. Reinvigorated, Khan now aims to nurture talent and back four to five significant films each year under Aamir Khan Productions.

Final film: Mahabharat

Aamir Khan also hinted that his long-gestating dream project, a grand cinematic adaptation of the Mahabharat, could be his final acting role: “This story has everything—emotion, scale, life itself. After this, there may be nothing more to do.”

Love at 60 with Gauri Spratt

On the eve of his milestone birthday, Khan surprised many by publicly introducing his partner, Gauri Spratt. The two reconnected after 25 years through his cousin Nuzhat Khan and have been in a relationship for the past 18 months.

Khan described Gauri as “a source of peace,” sharing, “I was looking for someone who brings calm into my life, and there she was.”

 “We felt secure enough to go public. Now, if I go out for coffee with her, you’re all welcome to join,” he joked.

Family, Films, and Forward Momentum

Khan’s focus now lies in balancing personal fulfillment with professional purpose. His upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, set for release on June 20.
