Pawan Kalyan temporarily steps back from political duties

Actor-turned-politician and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has briefly stepped away from his political and ministerial responsibilities to resume shooting for his much-awaited action thriller “OG” in Hyderabad.

This move comes after a whirlwind of political activity following the Jana Sena Party’s (JSP) strong performance in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, where Kalyan emerged as a key figure in the ruling coalition.

Back on sets

Currently serving as Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Environment, Forests, and Science & Technology, Kalyan is taking time out to fulfill his pending film commitments.

He has rejoined the sets of “OG,” directed by Sujeeth, where he plays a gritty mafia don. The film also stars Priyanka Arul Mohan and Emraan Hashmi, with the latter playing the antagonist. The latest Hyderabad schedule, which began this week, features high-octane action sequences choreographed by Peter Hein, with Ravi K. Chandran handling cinematography and S. Thaman scoring the music.

The decision has drawn mixed reactions. Critics from rival parties have questioned his priorities, suggesting he is sidelined in governance and thus turning back to films. Supporters, however, argue that Kalyan is effectively balancing both careers, honoring his professional commitments without compromising his long-term political vision for Andhra Pradesh.

Dual commitments, bigger plans?

As Pawan Kalyan navigates his dual roles as a mass entertainer and a political leader, speculation continues to swirl about his broader political ambitions and strategic roadmap for the state.

With “OG” generating significant buzz and his political stature on the rise, Pawan Kalyan’s balancing act is being closely watched—both by fans and political observers alike.
