Padma Bhushan arrived at the right time: Nandamuri Balakrishna

Veteran starNandamuri Balakrishna was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honour, by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday.

Following the ceremony, Balakrishna expressed his heartfelt gratitude and joy for receiving the prestigious award.

While some reports suggested that his fans felt the honour came too late, Balakrishna believes otherwise. He stated that the timing is perfect, as the recognition coincides with the completion of his 50-year journey in the film industry.

50 years in cinema

Balakrishna thanked the Government of India and his fans for the recognition.

“I am overjoyed. I thank my fans and the Government of India. In my 50-year career, my contributions as an MLA and the work through my hospital bring me immense pride,” he said.

He further added, “People have told me I should have received the Padma award much earlier, but I feel the timing is just right. I’ve delivered four hit films recently, it’s been 15 years since I became Chairman of the Cancer Hospital, and I’ve completed 50 years as an actor.”

Akhanda 2: Thaandavam on the way

Balakrishna is currently filming “Akhanda 2: Thaandavam,” the sequel to the blockbuster Akhanda. Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the film will see him in a powerful dual role once again—as a fierce spiritual warrior (Aghora) and an IAS officer. The cast also includes Pragya Jaiswal, Samyuktha, and Aadhi Pinisetty.
