In what many see as a significant gesture amid years of strained ties, actor Allu Arjun visited his uncle, Pawan Kalyan, at his residence in Hyderabad on Monday to inquire about the health of Pawan’s youngest son, Mark Shankar.

Mark Shankar, the son of Pawan Kalyan and his wife Anna Lezhneva, was recently injured in a fire accident at a summer camp in Singapore. Following his partial recovery, the boy was brought back to Hyderabad.

Pawan Kalyan—currently serving as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh—is staying to be with his family during the recovery period.

Complicated relationship

Allu Arjun’s visit marks a rare moment of public interaction between the two, who have shared a complicated relationship in recent years. Although they are family—Pawan Kalyan being Allu Arjun’s paternal uncle—their bond has reportedly been strained due to political differences.

The rift began to widen during the 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections, when Allu Arjun extended support to a candidate from the ruling YSR Congress Party. This move angered Pawan Kalyan’s supporters, as the actor-politician is the founder and leader of the opposition Jana Sena Party, which has been a vocal critic of the YSRCP.

Despite the political differences, Pawan Kalyan had earlier shown solidarity with Allu Arjun during a low point in the latter’s career.

Restoring relations

When Allu Arjun was briefly embroiled in controversy following a stampede incident at Sandhya Theatre—where fans had gathered for premiere screening of Pushpa 2—Pawan Kalyan expressed his support.

Since then, sources close to the family suggest that efforts have been quietly underway to bridge the gap between the Chiranjeevi family—Chiranjeevi himself, Pawan Kalyan, and Allu Arjun’s family.

Allu Arjun’s visit on Monday may not just be a personal gesture but also a sign that the family is seeking to move past old rifts. Whether this translates into a complete reconciliation remains to be seen, but it has certainly drawn attention from both fans and political observers alike.
