YSRCP demands recognition as the Opposition

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly kicked off its budget session today amid some disruption, with YSRCP legislators raising slogans. The opposition party has been vocal about seeking official recognition as the opposition in the Assembly to better represent public concerns.

They’ve reportedly made appeals to the governor to secure this position, emphasizing their intent to amplify the voice of the people during the session.

But neither the ruling party nor the governor made any promise in this regard. Citing the YSRC, the party walked out of the session.

Botsa Satyanarayana, the leader of the YSRC party, claimed that the state’s refusal to recognize the opposition party is killing the democratic spirit. “In the assembly, only two sections exist: the ruling party and the opposition block. Together they represent the voice of the people. But here, the voice is being suppressed,” he said.

The session will continue until March 19

The BAC (Business Affairs Committee) has decided to hold the session until March 19. YSRC party won 11 MLAs, while the ruling TDP-Jana Sena- BJP alliance says the 11 MLAs are not sufficient to get the opposition.
