BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha inaugurated the new office of Telangana Jagruthi, the socio-cultural organization she founded, in Banjara Hills on Saturday, May 31.

The move marks a notable shift in her political journey, with the new office symbolizing a step toward an independent role beyond the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Accompanied by her husband, Devanapalli Anil Kumar, for ceremonial poojas, Kavitha opened the new premises—located near her residence—without any visible BRS party symbols. This clear visual departure from her party affiliation reflects her intent to carve out a distinct political and social identity.

The newly relocated office, formerly based in Ashok Nagar, is adorned with portraits of K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and statues of Telangana Talli, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Savitribai Phule, and Professor Jayashankar—emphasizing the organization’s focus on Telangana pride, social justice, and cultural resurgence.

Speaking to the media, Kavitha described Telangana Jagruthi as one of KCR’s “two eyes,” alongside BRS, highlighting its enduring relevance in her vision for Telangana’s future.

Political assertion

During the inauguration, Kavitha announced a maha dharna to be held on June 4 at Indira Park, protesting notices issued to her father, former Chief Minister KCR, by the Commission of Inquiry regarding the Kaleshwaram project.

She sharply criticized the Congress government and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing them of compromising Telangana’s water rights and demanded clarity on the Godavari–Cauvery river interlinking proposal by Telangana Formation Day.

Kavitha’s recent activities—such as appointing new Telangana Jagruthi functionaries and launching Singareni Jagruthi for coal workers’ welfare—indicate a strategic effort to consolidate her influence among youth, backward classes, and marginalized communities.

These moves, coupled with public criticism of certain BRS leaders, have fueled speculation about her political ambitions outside the party framework.

BRS silently disowns

The absence of BRS leadership at the office launch and the enthusiastic presence of Jagruthi members—some of whom raised slogans projecting Kavitha as a future Chief Minister—add weight to these speculations. Through grassroots campaigns like her ongoing postcard initiative for Backward Classes’ rights and women’s empowerment, Kavitha is positioning Telangana Jagruthi as a potent platform for both social reform and political expression.

With her husband Anil by her side, the inauguration of the new Telangana Jagruthi office marks more than just a relocation—it signals Kavitha’s growing momentum as a leader forging her own path in Telangana’s evolving political landscape.
