One year of Babu’s Govt: KK Survey predicts TDP’s unpopularity

A recent survey by KK Surveys, a firm known for its accurate predictions in Andhra Pradesh elections, has reportedly flagged rising public dissatisfaction with the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP). The findings have triggered unease and internal friction within the party, just a year after its sweeping 2024 Assembly election victory.

Though the detailed survey report is yet to be released, key findings have surfaced through political circles and social media posts, pointing to growing discontent with the TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Survey findings

According to sources familiar with the survey, public sentiment has turned against the TDP over perceived delays in fulfilling key election promises — particularly the Super Six welfare schemes — and dissatisfaction with the government’s overall performance. The survey reportedly indicates a noticeable dip in Naidu’s approval ratings, with frustration particularly high in Rayalaseema and coastal Andhra, where economic challenges and unemployment remain pressing concerns.

The survey’s findings have reportedly deepened divisions within the TDP. Several senior leaders and MLAs are said to be concerned about the party’s declining popularity. Sources indicate that some MLAs from constituencies flagged for negative voter feedback have privately questioned the government’s direction and Naidu’s leadership style.

Further fueling tensions, the survey reportedly identifies a list of underperforming MLAs, stoking fears of an impending cabinet reshuffle or tighter performance reviews.

Opposition seizes opportunity

Sensing an opportunity, the opposition YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), led by former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has used the survey’s findings to attack the TDP government.

Opposition leaders have further highlighted the survey’s reported warning that the TDP could face electoral setbacks if current trends persist.

Meanwhile, Naidu has intensified his public engagements, urging party cadres to counter opposition propaganda and highlight the government’s achievements. The party is also preparing to leverage artificial intelligence in its outreach.

Survey credibility

KK Surveys enjoys a strong reputation in Andhra Pradesh political circles, having accurately predicted the YSRCP’s 151-seat landslide in 2019 and the TDP-led alliance’s 161-seat victory in 2024. The agency’s latest findings, though unofficial, have gained significant traction given its past record.
