AP Govt allocates lands to institutions in Amaravati

In a significant step toward the development of Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh’s capital city, the state government has announced the allocation of lands to several institutions in the Amaravati Capital Region. The announcement was made by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, P. Narayana, following a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting and the 47th Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting held on May 6, 2025.

Minister Narayana revealed that the Group of Ministers (GoM) approved land allotments for seven key organizations, reinforcing the government’s commitment to transforming Amaravati into a world-class hub for education, healthcare, technology, and governance.

The allocations include:

Law University: 55 acres
Quantum Valley: 50 acres
Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Medical College: 6 acres
IRCTC (for hotel development): 1 acre
Income Tax Department: 0.78 acres
Indian Red Cross Society: 0.78 acres
Coastal Bank: 0.40 acres

These allotments are part of a broader strategy to attract prestigious institutions to Amaravati, fostering economic growth and establishing the city as a center for innovation and development.

Sustaining capital city!

The minister emphasized that the allocations align with the state’s vision of creating a self-sustaining capital, with revenue from land sales and leases funding infrastructure projects without burdening the state treasury.

During the meeting, the CRDA also approved tenders worth ₹514 crore for the construction of quarters for gazetted and non-gazetted officers, further advancing the development of administrative infrastructure in the capital region. Minister Narayana highlighted that the government is adhering to the land allocation policies established during the 2014-2019 period under the previous TDP-led government, ensuring continuity and transparency.

“Amaravati is not just a capital city; it is a growth engine for Andhra Pradesh. We are ensuring that it attracts top-tier institutions to drive economic activity and create opportunities for the people of the state,” Narayana stated.
