Andhra Pradesh is rising: Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has declared that the state is on an upward trajectory, citing its impressive economic performance in the fiscal year 2024-25.

Naidu announced that Andhra Pradesh has achieved a growth rate of 8.21% at constant prices, securing the second-highest position among Indian states, trailing only Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister shared this milestone via a post on X on April 6, attributing the turnaround to his government’s policies implemented in less than a year since taking office.

“Andhra Pradesh is rising,” Naidu wrote on X. “As per the latest data from @GoIStats, our state has registered the 2nd highest growth rate in the country for 2024–25, with 8.21% growth. In less than a year of forming the government, our policies have moved Andhra Pradesh from a state of distress to a path of progress.”

The post, accompanied by an infographic, has garnered significant traction online, with supporters hailing it as evidence of Naidu’s vision for a “Swarna Andhra Pradesh” by 2047.

Beacon of growth

Chandrababu Naidu boasted that his policies and administration within a year have yielded results.

“When we assumed power, Andhra Pradesh was in distress—economically crippled and socially neglected. Today, we stand as a beacon of growth, second only to Tamil Nadu. This 8.21% growth rate reflects our commitment to rebuilding the state brick by brick,” he said.

He credited initiatives like the revival of Amaravati as the capital, investments in infrastructure, and a push for technology-driven governance for the turnaround.

The figures indicate a sharp recovery from the economic stagnation attributed to the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime under Jagan Mohan Reddy. Naidu has repeatedly criticized the YSRCP for leaving the state in a financial mess, a narrative he reinforced in his latest comments.

“We inherited a broken system, but in less than 10 months, we’ve set Andhra Pradesh on a course to rise again,” he stated.  Naidu’s statement has ignited a mix of celebration and debate. Supporters of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) trended hashtags like #AndhraRising and #ChandrababuVision, while critics pointed to ongoing challenges like unemployment and farmer distress.
