As the release date for one of 2025’s most anticipated mythological epics draws near, actor-producer Vishnu Manchu has shared key insights about Kannappa — a film that promises to blend grandeur, spirituality, and cinematic spectacle.

Set to hit theatres worldwide on June 27, 2025, Kannappa features an ensemble cast led by Vishnu Manchu, with powerhouse appearances by Prabhas, Mohan Babu, Mohanlal, and Kajal Aggarwal. The pan-Indian project will release in multiple languages and is poised to be a major milestone in the mythological genre.

Prabhas role trimmed

In a recent interview, Vishnu Manchu revealed that the film’s final runtime has been locked at 3 hours and 10 minutes. The decision followed rigorous editing to preserve the film’s narrative pace and emotional impact.

Surprisingly, even high-profile sequences — including those of Prabhas — were trimmed for cohesion.

Vishnu confirmed that Prabhas portrays a divine character, pivotal to the spiritual transformation of Kannappa — a devout atheist on a path to enlightenment. While some of his scenes were reduced in the final cut, Prabhas still enjoys a significant 30-minute screen presence, with key interactions alongside both Vishnu Manchu and Mohan Babu.

Another major highlight is Mohanlal’s cameo, which, though limited to 15 minutes, is described as deeply emotional and crucial to the film’s spiritual core. Both Prabhas and Mohanlal’s roles are expected to enrich the narrative and elevate the mythological aura of Kannappa.

The next big update from the makers is the release of the devotional track “Sri-Kala-Hasti” on May 28, 2025. Sung by Vishnu’s daughters Ariaana Manchu and Viviana Manchu, with music composed by Stephen Devassy, the song is anticipated to resonate strongly with audiences for its spiritual tone and emotional depth.

Big promotional plan

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa features an expansive cast including Akshay Kumar, Sarathkumar, Arpit Ranka, Preity Mukhundhan, and others in prominent roles. The film is jointly produced by 24 Frames Factory and AVA Entertainment, making it one of the most ambitious mythological ventures in recent Indian cinema.

With grand visuals, a compelling story, and a star-studded lineup, Kannappa is shaping up to be a landmark cinematic event. As anticipation builds, fans of Vishnu Manchu, Prabhas, and mythological narratives are eagerly counting down the days to witness this spiritual saga unfold on the big screen.
