Revanth Reddy is set for major Cabinet reshuffle

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is preparing for a major cabinet reshuffle following the induction of three new ministers—G. Vivek Venkatswamy, Vakiti Srihari, and Adluri Laxman Kumar—on June 8.

The reshuffle, aimed at aligning governance with political strategy, is awaiting final approval from the Congress high command in New Delhi.

Reventh Reddy to reallocate portfolios

Sources indicate that Revanth Reddy plans to reallocate key portfolios to improve administrative efficiency and accommodate the new ministers. The Chief Minister currently holds major departments including Home, Law and Order, Municipal Administration, and General Administration.

He is likely to relinquish some of these, including Finance and Energy, which may be assigned to senior ministers like Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Konda Surekha, or Jupally Krishna Rao.

The move follows Revanth’s 75-minute meeting with Rahul Gandhi on June 10, where broader discussions on portfolio distribution and political balancing reportedly took place. The Congress leadership is keen on ensuring caste, regional, and seniority representation, especially among marginalized communities.

However, the expansion has sparked internal dissent. Senior leaders such as P. Sudarshan Reddy and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy were reportedly sidelined in favor of first-time MLAs, prompting criticism within party circles and on social media.

The reshuffle is also being viewed as a strategic counter to mounting opposition pressure, particularly from the BRS, which has accused the Congress of vendetta politics following the arrest of BRS leader Konatham Dileep.

With three cabinet berths still vacant, further expansion remains possible. An official announcement on the portfolio changes is expected soon, pending final discussions with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other senior leaders.
