Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari in Ramayana!

Buzz surrounding Nitesh Tiwari’s monumental cinematic adaptation of “Ramayana” has reached new heights, with strong speculation that Kajal Aggarwal has been cast as Mandodari, the wise and noble queen of Lanka and wife of Ravana. While the filmmakers have yet to issue an official confirmation, reports and widespread social media chatter suggest Aggarwal’s involvement in the high-profile project is all but sealed.

Opposite Yash

The film, already generating massive anticipation, features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The reports revealed that Aggarwal recently underwent a successful look test and has begun filming key scenes set in Ravana’s Lanka.

Initially, actress Sakshi Tanwar—renowned for her collaboration with Tiwari in Dangal—was reportedly in talks for the role. However, recent developments indicate that Kajal Aggarwal has now stepped into the part, to play alongside Yash.

Who is Mandodari in Ramayana?

Mandodari, a pivotal character in the Ramayana, is revered for her wisdom, strength, and unwavering moral compass. As the daughter of the demon king Mayasura and apsara Hema, she is portrayed as Ravana’s moral anchor—often imploring him to abandon his pride and return Sita to Lord Ram.

Kajal Aggarwal, last seen opposite Salman Khan in Sikandar, will share the screen with Yash for the first time in this project. Sources indicate that Yash began shooting his solo sequences as Ravana on April 30, 2025, with the current filming schedule centered around the lavish sets of Lanka.

Massive project

Ramayana is being produced as a two-part epic, co-produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash himself. Part One is slated for a Diwali 2026 release, with Part Two expected to follow during Diwali 2027. The film also stars Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, adding to the scale and prestige of the production.
