Samantha Ruth Prabhu has encountered a professional hurdle following Amazon Prime Video’s decision to cancel the second season of her much-anticipated spy thriller series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. Adding to the speculation, rumors have been swirling about her involvement in a supposed web series titled Family Man 3, though no official confirmation has been made.

Season 2 of Citadel cancelled

Amazon MGM Studios announced on April 17, 2025, that Citadel: Honey Bunny, the Indian spin-off of the global Citadel franchise starring Samantha and Varun Dhawan, will not return for a second season. The show, directed by Raj & DK, premiered on November 7, 2024, and received a lukewarm response from both critics and viewers.

Despite the mixed reception, Samantha’s performance as Honey—a fierce spy and devoted mother—was widely appreciated. The cancellation appears to be part of a broader strategic shift at Amazon MGM Studios, following the departure of Jennifer Salke, who originally championed the Citadel universe. Plans for other spin-offs, including a Mexican version, have also been shelved in favor of refocusing on the core storyline.

No Family Man 3 for Samantha

Rumors about Samantha featuring in a web series titled Family Man 3 have been doing the rounds, but there is no official word or credible source backing these claims. The speculation likely stems from her acclaimed performance as Raji, the antagonist in The Family Man Season 2, also directed by Raj & DK. However, Samantha is not part of the upcoming third season.

Samantha is now gearing up for a fresh slate of projects. She will headline the Telugu film Maa Inti Bangaram, which also marks her return to lead roles after taking time off in 2023 to focus on her health. Notably, she is also producing the film.
