Promising all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is all set to make his comeback to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after recovering from a side strain injury that kept him out of action since January.

The young Andhra cricketer has successfully cleared all fitness tests, including the yo-yo test, at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, receiving the green light from the medical team to resume competitive cricket.

The 21-year-old last featured for India during the first T20I against England at Eden Gardens on January 22 but did not get an opportunity to bat or bowl. He was initially expected to play in the second T20I in Chennai but was ruled out of the series due to the injury. Since then, he has undergone an extensive rehabilitation program and is now fully fit to return to the field.

Nitish’s return will be a massive boost for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who retained him for ₹6 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, recognizing his potential as a game-changer.

A Key Player for Sunrisers Hyderabad

Nitish Kumar Reddy was one of SRH’s standout performers in IPL 2024, scoring 303 runs from 13 matches at an impressive strike rate of 143. His ability to contribute with both the bat and ball made him a valuable asset for the franchise.

Beyond the IPL, Nitish also made a strong impact in India’s tour of Australia, where he played a crucial role in the Test series. His most memorable performance came in the fourth Test at Melbourne, where he displayed remarkable grit, scoring a gutsy 114 that helped India put up a competitive total. His fearless batting style and ability to perform under pressure have cemented his reputation as one of India’s most promising young cricketers.

SRH’s IPL 2025 Campaign

With Nitish now cleared to play, he is expected to join the SRH squad soon as they gear up for their IPL 2025 opener against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. His return strengthens SRH’s lineup, adding depth to both their batting and bowling departments. With the franchise aiming for a strong campaign this season, Nitish’s all-round abilities could play a crucial role in their success.
