Pawan Kalyan: No place for cinema dialogues in politics

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief K. Pawan Kalyan has strongly condemned the inflammatory slogans and actions by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) supporters during former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s condolence visit to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district.

The visit turned controversial after YSRCP worker Ravi Teja displayed a placard threatening violence if the party returns to power in 2029, referencing a scene from Pushpa 2 and invoking the Gangamma Jatara ritual.

Reacting sharply, Pawan Kalyan stated that such “cinema dialogues” may appeal to a few but have no place in democratic politics. “The coalition government will not tolerate any actions that disrupt peace or create fear,” he warned, assuring strict measures against attempts to incite violence or confusion among the public.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also criticized the incident, questioning the normalization of violent rhetoric in politics.

“Just because something is said in a movie, can it be used on a political banner? Are we saying what happens in films is acceptable in real life?” he asked. TDP leaders, including senior MLA Payyavula Keshav, slammed Jagan for not condemning the placard, asserting that a responsible leader should not overlook such behavior.

Despite police restrictions on Jagan’s convoy, YSRCP supporters turned the event into a large rally, leading to chaotic scenes and the reported deaths of two people. Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar blamed the incident on the party’s “reckless mobilization.” As the political clash intensifies, both NDA and YSRCP have accused each other of undermining democratic norms. The police have launched an investigation into the incident, which has now become a flashpoint in Andhra Pradesh’s tense political climate.
